As of Jan 2, 2013 all education workers in Ontario receive 11 sick days each year at 100% pay and 120 additional days under the Short Term Disability Plan (STDP) at 90% or 66.3%, depending on the illness. On Jan 2 the government granted additional days for this year ONLY to top up anyone who is on the STDP to 100% pay for an extra 20 days.
You will see the change in the allocation of sick days on your paystub on February 14, 2013 to 31, or less if you have already taken sick days this year. For the school year 2012 – 2013 all PSSP members receive 31 sick days at 100% pay. If you have already received a reduced 90% pay for this school year, you will receive those funds back on the following payday, February 28.
We will discuss this issue and answer questions on Feb 15 at our PSSP Professional Development Day.
